The Lie starring ‘The Kissing Booth’ Star Joey King. It is the remake of a 2015 German film titled We Monsters. Joey Kings plays the role of a teenage girl who confesses to impulsively killing her best friend. However, her parents, played by Mireille Enos and Peter Sarsgaard decide to cover it up setting off a chain of spiraling events.
It is set to be released on October 6th. The release is a bit delayed after having been premiered at Toronto Film Festival in Septem 2018. The Lie is one of the eight Blumhouse production movies that the production house is producing for Amazon Prime Video. Blumhouse is known for producing low budget horror movies like Insidious, The Purge, Sinister, The Gift, Split, Get Out, and more.
The movie is written and directed by Veena Sud. She is best known for developing the American television series The Killing.
Well, it is quite obvious by the title that the plot has something to do ‘lies’. However, let us get deeper into it. According to the trailer and the plot released, we understand that a father and a daughter (Joey King) are on their way to dance camp when they spot daughter’s best friend on the side of the road and thus, offer to give a ride. However, soon the girls need to use it to the washroom. So, they step off the car and go into the wood when the father hears his daughter’s scream.
On getting to the site, he finds that girl’s best friend is missing. Here’s when Joey confesses that she impulsively pushed her best friend in the river. After trying very hard the father could not find the girl. Finally, they get back home and decide to cover up the murder with a lie and thus, getting themselves stuck in complications even further.
